Omo Valley Tour

Day 1 -Addis Ababa
After Arrival on the Airport to be met by Mystery Ethiopia Tours depending on your arrival you will have a full Day City tour of Addis that includes the National Museum, Merkato and Entoto Overnight in the Hotel.

Day 2-Arba Minch
After breakfast, drive to Arba Minch at 460 k.m visiting the villages of the Alaba people who are noted for their beautifully painted huts, and the people of Wolita who have colourful dressing. O/N – Tourist Hotel or Swaines Hotel.

Day 3- Arba Minch
In the morning, drive 42km to visit the Dorze people who live in the mountains and are famous for their colourful cotton clothes, huge huts made of bamboo trees, and cultivation of Enset or False Banana. In the afternoon, you will have an interesting boat ride on Lake Chamo to visit big African crocodiles, hippoes, and various species of lowland water birds. O/N – Swaines Hotel or Tourist Hotel.

Day 4- Arba Minch – Key Afer – Jinka
You will visit the villages of the Konso people who are noted for their colourful cotton clothes, beautiful rock terraces and walled villages. These terraces and walled villages are registered by UNESCO as World Heritage recently. O/N – Jinka Resort Hotel or Orit Hotel.

Day 5- Jinka – Mursi Villages – Mago NP – Jinka
In the morning, drive to the villages of the Mursi people who are noted especially for the women’s clay plates which are inserted in their lower lips. On the way to the Mursi village, you drive through the Mago National Park so you will have a chance to spot wild animals like Dik-Dik, Kudus, and Wild Dogs. After lunch at Jinka, you will visit the Cultural Market of the People of the Lower Omo Valley. O/N – Jinka Resort Hotel or Orit Hotel.

Day 6- Jinka – Dimeka – Turmi
Today, you will drive to Turmi and along the way visit one of the most interesting weekly markets of the Lower Omo Valley at Dimeka which is attended by the tribal people of Hamer and Benna. You will have also time to visit few villages of the Hamer around Turmi.O/N – Evangadi Lodge or Turmi Lodge.

Day 7- Murulle – Turmi
Have an excursion to Omo Rate and cross the Omo River by traditional boats to visit the Dasenech people who are noted for their small huts and their body scarifications. Then, drive to Murulle and visit Karo people who are the fewest in number in the Lower Omo Valley and are known for their body paintings. O/N – Evangadi Lodge or Turmi Lodge.

Day 8- Turmi – Arba Minch
Drive north to Arba Minch visiting the other interesting people of Erbore who are cattle keepers and have unique rectangular houses made of long grasses. They are also noted for using lots of things for jewellery such as nails, watch bands, pen caps, etc O/N – Swaines Hotel or Tourist Hotel.

Day 9- Arba Minch – Awassa
Drive to Awassa after check in to the Hotel visit lake Awassa one of the rift valley lake rich in birds life birds feed on left over fish hat is the fish market of Awassa O/N in Pina Hotel.

Day 10- Awassa-Langano
Drive to the famous weekend resort centre at the Rift Valley Lake of Langano and enjoy swimming and bird watching. Along the way, stop at the villages of the Oromo people. O/N – Sabana Lodge.

Day 11- Langano-Addis Ababa
Drive back to Addis In the evening you will be our guest at one of the best traditional restaurants in Addis where you will taste a variety of Ethiopian meals and see the folkloric dance of the different people of Ethiopia. O/N in the Hotel.

Day 12
Drive 185 K.m from Addis visiting the rock-hewn church of Adadi Mariam (12th Century AD) and the steles of Tiya (12th Century AD and UNESCO World Heritage Site) on the way. Then Departure.
